Hello, my name is Nube. I'm Joel's yellow lab. I love to play ball, take walks, and, as you can tell, I love to have my picture taken. But best of all, I love to play 'STEAL ANYTHING I CAN FROM JOEL'S DESK, RUN AND MAKE HIM CHASE ME' I'm very fast and VERY good at it.
A bit more about Nube. He is a pure breed yellow lab. I rescued / adopted him from the local humane society after he was brought in as a stray. His name is Nube, which is meant to be short for New Beginning. I had another rescued / adopted dog named Squeaky before Nube for seven years. Shortly after I had to put Squeaky to sleep because of cancer, I came across Nube. If you are looking for a loving, caring animal companion, I strongly suggest that you check out your local animal shelters. There's a Nube or a Squeaky waiting there to give you all the love, companionship, loyalty, and unconditional friendship that they can give.
I'm moving in to make a steal. Gotta smile, this is too easy.
I'm on the prowl. Time to get Joel excited.
I'll just lay here until Joel can catch his breath. God I love playing keep away with him. Someday I might even let him win. Na, what was I thinking?
FOR MY DOG SQUEAKY, GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN
The day I had to have Squeaky put to sleep was one of the saddest days of my life. She had developed cancer. For many days I felt a guilt, questioning if I did the right thing. Of course the answer was yes, but as anyone who has ever had to put a loved pet to sleep knows, you experience a period of guilt. Not to mention a lot of heart felt loss. The day she left I wrote the following little paragraph, mostly to help vent the hurt I was feeling. I taped it to my locker at work, not hoping to attract any attention, but just to show the world that I was hurting inside. I had talked about Squeaky a lot at work. I think a lot of my co-workers knew her as well as they knew me. A lot of people offered their condolence, which helped. To anyone out there who has gone down this sad path, my sympathies to you.
My best friend went for a walk today. She loved to take walks. She will not tire from this walk, or long to be home and get a drink of fresh water. She walks now within the clouds, no leash to hold her back. I did not wish to send her on this walk, nor could I have imagined she would need to leave so soon. For seven years she was a companion, but mostly she was my friend. I feel her absence. I miss her. Thank you, Squeaky for being my friend.

Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in. - Mark Twain
If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you; that is the principal difference between a dog and a man. - Mark Twain
